The Heart Of It All

So, Im attending a Gurus conference this week. A gathering of church media/tech people from all over that are interested in learning more about the gear we use and connecting with others that know more than we do. In most cases those of us involved in the "tech" side of ministry don't get to come out of our caves very often.

We have 3 services at Palm Valley and very short turn-arounds in-between services so I spend most of my Sunday mornings back stage. It's kind of funny when I get the opportunity to teach and our congregation looks at me like "wow this guy still goes to church here".

So Gurus has been great so far, because I am able to learn a ton about the stuff I do, yet also I kind of get to take that tech hat off and worship without worrying about what's supposed to be happening. In fact the speaker last night had a great line that smacked me around a bit he said, "When your ability to worship God turns into a continuous critique somethings wrong." To often this happens, so last night as we closed out service all the "tech" was stripped away... no lights, no haze, no band. It was a few moments of returning back to the heart of worship, and it was awesome.

So once again I realize that God has called me to prepare His house to be a place of worship, a place where moments are created for people to meet him and be changed. For that to happen I must prepare my heart to meet with him and be changed. I must return back to the heart of worship...HIM!
