Glorify God!

Ok so I just read this article, and it was exactly what I needed to read tonight.

It's been a crazy week, and crazy weeks usually lead to crazy emotions.  There have seemed to be a lot of extras in my life and at work the past month or so (theres never a "normal week" @ PVC), not bad extras just stuff out of the norm.  Stuff that makes a person think.

Getting to the point of the article... this weekend it was my honor to serve a family that lost a loved one.  A beautiful lady that had been battling cancer for 5 years.  I did not know her, I had seen her but never spoke with her.  It was my privilege to program her funeral service, to put together all the pictures the family had of her, to help make decisions on who would do and say what.  And from the onset it was obvious this women loved life, every picture-she was smiling, coming from a large family it was obvious she was the anchor, the wind in the sails.  She will be missed.  I just couldn't get away from this feeling that this women took advantage of every moment every opportunity and did not let life pass her by.

Reflecting on this the past couple days really got me stirred up, and that phrase in Driscoll's article:  "Everything in our life is an opportunity to praise God", WOW!  So simply but so true.  I am made to glorify God!  Not to drive a fancy car or have a nice yard.  But to Glorify God.  I had to confess, I get it wrong and I want to do it right.

As I look towards a new week, as i make decisions this week and react to situations I can either glorify God or not.  May I choose God!

IDEAS

credit: Bogdan Suditu

Everyone has ideas, everyone sees things differently or has a certain way that they would like something to be.  Some ideas are bad, some are horrible, some are good, and some are even great.

It’s kinda funny, i’m sure you know people who are very vocal about their ideas.  Doesn’t matter if the ideas are good, bad, or from outer space.  Others are not vocal at all, its like you can see the wheels spinning but nothing ever comes out.

I work with some great people here at Palm Valley and its interesting to see the power of ideas working in our midst.  Over this next few posts I want to camp around some thoughts on just that.  Where do these ideas come from?  How do we advocate for our ideas?  What does dialogue look like around these ideas?

Im excited to see what comes out of these posts, because I know when that light bulb of an Idea comes on its like magic...

If you have any initial thoughts or perspective to contribute or add to the conversation of ideas leave a comment, thanks...

IT MATTERS!

So I finally signed up for a free month with netflix and although their streaming library isn't huge, the ability to have a queue of videos that arrive at my doorstop is a pretty cool deal.

It seems like Netflix also is a pretty good company to work for. Here's a quote from their write up... 7 great reasons to work at Netflix.

Tension

At PVC we are constantly trying to grow and challenge ourselves. As a staff member its never an option to get comfortable and coast. This principle applies both practically speaking and spiritually speaking. With that being said the challenge is to constantly be in a state of tension, to be thinking on something that keeps me sharp and focused on the fact that God is always wanting to show me something. He's constantly creating situations that could make be a better follower of Him, if I do my part and respond and live in that tension that says I'm not there yet.

Feedback

How well do you handle criticism?  This is a tough one, I don't mind being a bit honest here, but I am naturally a VERY defensive person.  It's weird, on one hand I feel as though I can be teachable and logically I know feedback is necessary for growth, but man can it rub me the wrong way sometimes.  In that moment its hard for me not to feel attacked and take every word personal.
