Frog Popularity

The craziest things get the attention.  I walked out of the Cruz's house last night and saw a rather large frog.  I grew up in Kansas, the land of the Bull Frog, so I am used to larger than normal frogs.  So when I reached down and picked up that bad boy Jorge and Sarah freaked.  They had to have a picture and Jorge had it posted on his facebook in minutes.  It was quite the buz in our comment world today.  The Frog has a name, Mr. Sapo, through much deliberation and some don't prefer french food, Alma.  All this too say, Mr. Sapo I may never see you again, but you must know you are getting some serious air time bro.  Here's a pic.

Another Meeting?

I strongly believe that if you fail to plan, yes say it with me, YOU PLAN TO FAIL.  This is huge to me.  I have had the opportunity to lead several ministry teams that in my estimation were doing some pretty cool stuff.  In each case MEETINGS are a big part of being a part of a team.  I have never really had a problem with this, although I do see the perspective that some people carry, which says why meet so much when there is so much to do.  In other words why am I going to another meeting when I should be working (and everyone said, "AMEN").  O.k. I understand where your coming from, trust me I've sat through my share of bad, long meetings.  But I also understand the value of a good meeting.

I think its important for any leader to really think through every scheduled meeting.  What is the purpose of that meeting?  Who should attend that meeting?  How long should that meeting be?  And then stick too it.  I mean honestly can you blame your team for dreading some of the meetings you make them set threw?

It's important to keep your meetings engaging and on target.  Each individual should carry the same passion and concern for whatever it is that you are meeting about.  Which will make the outcome of that meeting that much better.  Some meetings will always be painful, its the necessary evil.  But make it a goal to have meetings that matter, that make a difference, and that people want to be a part of.

You say:  "Meeting vs. Working"

I say:  "Meeting is Working"    (my wife called me a nerd for that one)

Got Goals?

I have set a goal for myself.  It is my goal to post consistent entries on this blog.  For some, that may not seem to lofty, and others of you probably understand.  This is my first crack at this blog thing and I want it to stick.  I think its important to be specific and open about the goals that you set.  For me I need consequences if I don't live up too my commitments.  I am not the best goal setter, but am getting better at it.  What about you?  Do you have goals?  Weekly goals, monthly, yearly?  I strongly believe if we aim at nothing we hit that target, but when we give ourselves something to aim at, a goal, amazing things can happen.  Keep dreaming, keep setting goals.

Numero Uno

I don't necessarily know if this "Blog" world is for me as far as publishing is concerned.  I have recently immersed myself in about 25 different blogs, that I read regularly.  I have gained a lot from these readings, just in the past few months.  So this will be my attempt to contribute to an already over-saturated world of blogs.  Although readers may be few and comments even fewer I am assuming the discipline of typing out some thoughts and sharing ideas will have a lasting impact on me.  And at the very least I know Joe will have some link love for me.  More to come about what to expect by way of mitchisms, for now consider me "officially" testing the waters.
